My name is April Dobson, and I am a lifelong resident of McDowell County, where I was raised, graduated from high school, married, and chose to build my family. I am the proud mother of two children, my daughter Mackenzie and my son Caylen. I became a registered nurse in 2007 and earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Winston-Salem State University. Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to work across a wide range of nursing specialties, including operating room nursing, outpatient services, PACU, OR supervision, serving as a regional nurse for Asheville Cardiology, working as a school nurse with Burke County Schools, and providing part-time mental health nursing support for Clear Sky’s Level II and Level III facilities. Through this journey, I discovered a deep passion for mental health care and supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, which ultimately led me to my role as IDD Director at Clear Sky Innovations. This work has proven to be the most rewarding chapter of my career. One of the greatest privileges of my role is the opportunity to build meaningful relationships not only with our clients, but also with their families. Supporting families, caregivers, and/or guardians allows me to provide care that is compassionate, collaborative, and truly centered on the whole person, and it is my honor to serve as Clear Sky Behavioral’s IDD Director and Qualified Professional.
